Hello! I’m DeAnna McIntosh. I think of a new creative idea every hour (ask my husband. he politely smiles and listens to every. single. one). I have over 10 years of experience in merchandising and marketing in multiple capacities (Fashion Institute of Technology graduate – yes, I went to fashion school and our mascot was a tiger), which, in an interesting way, led me to event planning.
While in New York City studying (and attending Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week – my first taste of events), I started an accessories retail company where I planned and hosted cocktail parties to sell my merchandise (unknowingly became an event planner).
I moved to Southwest Florida to work for the Chico’s Buying team managing a $117 Million dollar department (my budget management, merchandising, and marketing skills came into play). I later joined the Catalog & Marketing team where I managed the design and execution of the monthly catalogs and projects for TV/Print Ads, E-commerce, their Luxury Brand Black Label, and Public Relations (whew, a lot right?). To summarize – I was responsible for ensuring the brand aesthetic was properly presented in all projects (Insert job perk – I not only got to coordinate these projects in the office, I also traveled to the photo and video shoots to assist with art direction and styling, working alongside prestigious photographers, stylists, and models). I then moved to Fort Lauderdale (to be near the love of my life) and worked at Office Depot as as Associate Manager of Merchandise Strategy & Execution (mouthful right?). With my love for design, style, and strategic planning, I then launched Affinity Event Creative and obtained a Professional Certificate in Event Management from the University of South Florida.
Event Planning emerged as the quintessential career for me. It encompassed everything that I loved: budget management, design and styling, customer service, marketing, branding, and project management (and I could put my zillions of daily ideas to use).
When I initially started Affinity Event Creative, we primarily planned social events, which were featured in numerous publications, such as Borrowed & Blue, Black Bride, Married Up Blog, and Coloures. However, my passion has always been entrepreneurship and small business development, so it was natural for us to evolve into a marketing and event production company, also producing events and creating branding strategies to promote event professionals, brands, retailers, and venues. We empower companies to differentiate themselves from their competition through strategically innovative and immersive branding experiences.
